Nebraska’s largest outdoor ride and water announced a $5-million expansion. The 16 acre park in Omaha announced this week construction is underway on their first new project, Makana Splash. Spokesperson Katie Anderson says that is a 40 foot tall water playground and it is scheduled to open this coming Memorial Day weekend.
Anderson says Makana Splash will feature four slides and 6,000 square feet of multi-level fun. Along with water jets and wheels there is a 317 gallon dump bucket at the top that drops every five minutes. They are also adding deck space and private cabanas visitors can rent for birthday parties and other events. This addition increases the park’s capacity by at least 500 visitors.
Anderson says the expansion will take several years to complete. They also plan to add two new water tower slides. One is a six lane mat racer slide and the other is a tower with three twisting tube slides.
