CHI Health CEO Dr. Cliff Robertson says they will continue to serve the region’s health care needs even though Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska rejected a proposal this week to put an end to a contract dispute.
CHI Health patients are no longer in-network if they are covered by Blue Cross. Dr. Robertson says they are seeing a drop in patients visiting their facilities but they are also hearing that many they serve are switching insurance providers so they can continue to utilize CHI Health’s facilities and patients.
Dr. Robertson says, “We have numerous employers that are self insured that have instructed Blue Cross to treat their employees as if they were in network. We have also been working with employers who made the decision to move away from Blue Cross but don’t have the new health plan kick in until January 1st. We’re providing transition assistance to those employers so that their employees can maintain their existing relationships and not have to change doctors for two months and then turn around and change back. There are many ways we are working with individuals and employers.”
In a release from CHI Health says Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska’s refusal tells us they are not interested in helping patients or employers or interested in a resolution.
