No. 12 seed Creighton beat Oregon State 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament at Morrison Stadium in Omaha on Sunday afternoon.After a scoreless first half, CU freshman Lucas Staufferscored the game winner in the 50th minute to put the Bluejays ahead for good. Creighton (15-3-2) advances to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the third time in four seasons under head coach Elmar Bolowich and the tenth time since 2000.
The Bluejays picked up their 11th shutout of the season. Creighton improved to 11-2-0 at home in 2014 and 12-2-0 all-time in NCAA Tournament matches played at Morrison Stadium. Xavier upset No. 5 Indiana 2-1 in Bloomington to advance to the round of 16 and Creighton hosts Xavier in a third round contest next Sunday at 1 p.m. CT inside Morrison Stadium for the right to advance to an NCAA Quarterfinal match.
