Tell me you were not surprised that Bo Pelini was fired before Michigan’s Brady Hoke, who has been on the hot seat all season? Apparently Pelini’s went from luke warm to blazing after the trouncing by Wisconsin. Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst made a quick decision, less than 48 hours after the season finale at Iowa. All indications are that Eichorst is prepared to make a quick hire as well, with hints that he would like to wrap something up by mid-December. Eichorst also going against the grain, by not involving a consulting firm, but acknowledging he’s making the decision on his own.
Meanwhile in Michigan, Hoke is scheduled to meet this afternoon with interim A.D. Jim Hackett. His future is still up in the air. If Michigan does go in a different direction, did Eichorst get a head start on the Wolverines by making the Husker head coaching job available first?
