BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Sydney Lamberty, Creighton, Fr., G – 15 pts, 6 rebs, 5 assts in win over Kansas
Lamberty becomes the first player to be named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for four consecutive weeks since 2011-12 (UCONN’s Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis) after pushing the Bluejays to an 84-81 overtime win over Kansas on Monday. Lamberty scored 15 points and was credited with six rebounds and five assists against the Jayhawks. No two points were bigger than her game-winning layup in overtime with eight seconds left, blowing by her defender untouched for the go-ahead bucket. Creighton wrapped up non-conference play with a 7-5 record and a three-game winning streak.
