Executive Director of the Downtown Omaha INC. Foundation Mark Nichols says the tradition continues and their fireworks spectacular will start at 7 pm.
Nichols says the early hour is to make this a family event. He says this is a great way for the family to celebrate and it allows plenty of time for other evening events. One tip – arrive early. It will be crowded as the event typically draws 30,000 spectators every year.
Nichols says, “They are probably the best fireworks in the region if not in the country.” He says the show will last 10 to 12 minutes. He says it is a perfect ending to the fun filled weeks of holiday activities and events.
The ConAgra Foods Ice Rink at 10th and Harney Streets will remain open until January 4th, however is closed on New Year’s Day. The cost is $5 and that includes skate rental. The ConAgra Foods Foundation will match all rink income dollar for dollar up to $100,000 and donate all proceeds to the Food Bank for the Heartland through the Shine the Light on Hunger campaign. Donations of non-perishable food and household goods can be dropped off at the rink.
