A 31 year old Omaha woman is dead after an accident early Sunday morning. Police say Megan Jackson was a passenger in a 2004 Jeep Cherokee just before 4:30 am when the driver lost control near 24th and Lake Street. The vehicle hit a utility pole and then rolled, went through a wood privacy fence and landed on its roof. Jackson had been thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the driver as 24 year old Tony Carroll and he was booked for motor vehicle homicide, felony DUI – serious bodily injury, willful reckless driving and no driver’s license. He suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
A second passenger, 36 year old Jamie Gamble was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening hip injury.
