Clinging to a one-point lead with less than five minutes to the play, the 22nd ranked Nebraska women’s basketball team was unable to finish off the 14th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, losing 69-61 Thursday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Nebraska had a chance to take the lead but Bethany Doolittle blocked a Tear’a Laudermill layup attempt and Iowa countered the other way with a three to give the Hawkeyes a 65-61 lead with 40 seconds left.
NU’s Emily Cady finished with a career-high 19 rebounds, while adding nine points, three assists and a block. With her third rebound of the night, Cady moved past former Husker All-American Kelsey Griffin into the No. 3 spot on NU’s career rebound list. Cady now has 1,036 rebounds.
The Huskers played without first-team All-Big Ten point guard Rachel Theriot for the third consecutive game because of an ankle injury.
With the loss, Nebraska fell to 17-7 overall and 7-6 in the Big Ten. Each of NU’s last five losses have come to top-25 teams.
