Several bills regarding legalizing medical marijuana are on today’s Legislature’s Judiciary Committee agenda. Many supporters made the trip to Nebraska to share their success stories. Paige Figi says her daughter, Charlotte suffered up to 50 seizures a day and after losing hope she researched medical marijuana.
Figi says, “She is an amazing success story. She has one or two seizures a month now. She has another chance. She can walk and talk and have a life again.”
Figi is the founder of Realm of Care in Colorado and says they welcome Nebraskans in need of treatment. They operate a full medical marijuana operation that Figi says is not connected to the recreational use.
Figi says Nebraska is pulled in two directions right now. She says on one side is legalizing medical marijuana and the other is increasing penalties for marijuana possession and suing Colorado for legalizing the recreational use.
Figi says, “This is an interesting state where it seems like it is trying to move in the other direction but the momentum of the country and world is heading one way and you have to decide what side of history you are going to be on.”
Members of Nebraskans suffering from AIDS, cancer, Crohn’s Disease, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, post traumatic stress disorder and other illnesses are in the state to support legalizing medical marijuana.
