An Omaha woman has been ordered to repay nearly $125,000 to Social Security after failing to use the money for her disabled child.
United States Attorney Deborah Gilg reports 48-year-old LaThosha Bolton has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison. A jury found her guilty of theft and mail fraud. Bolton has been ordered to repay the Social Security Administration $124,960.90. She also will have to serve three years of supervised release once she leaves prison.
Bolton received Social Security Supplemental Income benefits from 1993 until 2013 on behalf of her disabled child. The jury found that while her child indeed had a disability, Bolton didn’t use the money to the benefit of the child.
