The interim president of United Way of the Midlands has been promoted to become the organizaton’s new president.
Shawna Forsberg became interim president in July of last year after the unexpected death of President and CEO Karen Bricklemyer. Forsberg had served as senior vice president of marketing.
Forsberg was chosen as president after a national search led by James Abruzzo, head of the Nonprofit Practice at DHR International, a global executive search firm.
As president, Forsberg will be responsible for strategic initiatives, workforce readiness, and classroom readiness to strengthen the local community. Forsberg will lead United Way of the Midlands’ fundraising, marketing, and financial management.
“Shawna brings the right combination of experience, expertise and passion to an organization that provides vital services to our entire region,” said Lance Fritz, United Way of the Midlands board chair and Union Pacific president and CEO said in a written statement. “Her transition from interim to permanent president and CEO will help sustain the momentum we have already gained in implementing the strategic plan developed in 2011 under the leadership of Terry Kroeger and Ken Stinson.”
