Authorities in Buffalo County are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near a burn pile in a field north of Kearney yesterday afternoon.
At around 2:15 p.m. local law enforcement authorities and firefighters were called to a rural home on Sweetwater Avenue north of Kearney in response to a report of a grass fire which had spread to some nearby vehicles located on the property.
Upon arrival, authorities found a 65-year-old man dead near a burn pile in a field a short distance from a nearby home.
An autopsy is being performed by the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office to determine the cause of death, although authorities say foul play is not suspected.
The man’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
