The International is this weekend in Omaha. Lisa Roskens is the president and founder of the Omaha Equestrian Foundation and says the International is a horse jumping and dressage – horse dancing competition and will feature horses and riders from around the world.
Roskens says, “We have five different countries represented including Bolivia which is a new country to bring to Omaha I think on any level.”
Roskens says the competition will be Friday and Saturday evening at the CenturyLink Center and tickets are required but there are many events that are open to the public at no charge.
She says there are free educational expo experiences Thursday through Saturday where kids can run jumps, wrap legs to try on clothes. She says they also have a Gallery of Breeds exhibit where visitors can learn more about the different breeds.
New to the competition this year is dressage. Roskens says, “This is like the figure skating of the show jumping world where the horse and rider work together to dance.”
Omaha will host the World Cup competition in the spring of 2017.
