Two Omaha police officers are recovering from minor injuries after trying to arrest a suspected car thief Wednesday night. The department reports both officers were following up on a stolen vehicle investigation when they saw the suspect in a stolen vehicle drive into a parking lot.
Both officers approached the vehicle when the driver threatened to kill them and put the car in gear. The suspect started to drive away striking one officer and dragging the other before hitting two parked cars. One officer was able to get into the car and put it into park. The driver, 20 year old Tanner Marcoe and a passenger, 20 year old Valentina Hallaway were taken into custody.
Marcoe and both officers were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Marcoe was then taken to the Douglas County Correctional Center and booked on a number of charges that include: Theft by Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Terroristic Threats, two counts of Felony Assault on an Officer, two counts of Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstructing, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the Scene of an Accident (two counts), Illegal Transport of an Airsoft Pistol, and a Trespassing warrant.
Hallaway was booked for obstructing.
