Weekend fights at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln left two staff members at the prison injured. A few inmates had to seek medical attention as well.
The two staff members were taken to a Lincoln hospital Saturday to receive treatment for minor injuries. Both have been released.
Acting prison warden, Robert Madsen, issued a statement in which he said the prison has been placed in lockdown. All public events, including any visits or volunteer activities, have been canceled for the weekend.
Madsen stated the prison has been secured. An investigation is underway. The fights, according to Madsen, began Saturday morning. Staff suffered injuries when they intervened.
