Two inmates have been discovered dead in a housing unit at the Tecumseh state prison, two others are being treated in a hospital in wake of a riot at the prison.
Prison guards have secured the prison. All staff have been accounted for, according to Department of Correctional Services officials. The public is not at risk. The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating. No identities have been released.
Corrections officials say guards had to break up a mob on the prison grounds Sunday afternoon. Prison staff responded after noticing a large gathering of inmates in front of a housing unit and tried to make them disperse. Two guards and one inmate were wounded in the fight. All received medical treatment.
Two inmates were taken to a hospital for treatment. One had been shot. The other was shot with a rubber projectile.

The Tecumseh state prison is located in Johnson County, about 60 miles southeast of Lincoln. It houses 960 inmates.
A spokesman for the Department of Correctional Services said all staff had been accounted for Sunday night and staff worked to clear the prison and secure it.
The Crisis Negotiation Team, Correctional Emergency Response Team and Special Operations Response Teams have arrived in Tecumseh.
