The family of murder victims Jesus Marinero and Josue Ramirez-Marinero spoke for the first time after learning the 5 year old boy was recovered from the Elkhorn River earlier this week.
Veronica Rosa is the niece of Marinero and the family translator and spokesperson and says Marinero had been in Omaha since 2001 and moved here from California. The suspected murderer, Roberto Marinero, the son of Jesus, came to the U-S directly from El Salvador about 10 years ago.
Rosa says, “She was a good mother. Not just to Roberto and Josue. She had other kids. She did the best possible to give them a better life, especially to Roberto. We told her a couple of times to move. Move with me, other siblings. Move out of state. She said she can’t. She said I can’t leave Roberto by himself. And look at what happened.”
Rosa adds that 11 month old Angel is doing very well. He says the family constantly holds him and don’t want to let him go. Marinero is charged with kidnapping the baby and putting him in a dumpster in La Vista.
Rosa says the family is hoping that Roberto Marinero and his girlfriend, Gabriela Guevera are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. She is charged with five counts as an accessory.
