Preliminary autopsy results show that five-year-old Josue Ramirez-Marienro’s cause of death was drowning.
Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine reports there was no other signs of trauma.
Josue was pulled form the Elkhorn River about a mile downstream from the West Center Road Bridge Monday morning. His mother, Jesus Marinero was found dead in Omaha on May 6th, the same day her 11 month old son Angel was found alive in a dumpster in La Vista.
Marinero’s 25 year old son, Roberto Martinez-Marinero is facing two first degree murder charges and another charge for kidnapping. His girlfriend, Gabriela Guevara is charged as an accessory. Their two children are in state protective custody.
The Marinero family is in the process of planning funeral services for Jesus and Josue. Those services could possibly be held in two weeks and the family says the public is welcome. The family also thanks the community for all the support as they continue to grieve.
