The Nebraska State Patrol and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office conducted a truck safety checkpoint on Thursday.
Lt. Dan Doggett is with the State Patrol’s Carrier Enforcement Division and says they checked 99 trucks and found a number of violations ranging from bad brakes, no working tail lights, turn signals, head lights and weight limits. They also checked driver’s credentials to see if they had a commercial driver’s license. He says they issued more than 260 citations and took 21 trucks out of service completely.
Lt. Doggett says the worst violation was a truck with no brakes, running over the weight limit and the driver didn’t have a commercial driver’s license. He says in the past trucks have been stopped where the driver had no license at all.
Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the enforcement.
