If someone knocks on your door wanting to asphalt your driveway, Jim Hegarty with the Better Business Bureau – Nebraska says just say no. He says it could be part of a regular springtime scam.
Hegarty says these folks are typically “travelers” or gypsies and have camps south of Nebraska. They head north when the weather gets nice. He says there have been a number of complaints in Kansas and it won’t be long before they show up here.
Hegarty says typically they claim they have leftover asphalt from a state job and they need to use it up quickly and offer great deals. He says often times they start the job but as soon as they have the cash or check in hand they disappear and don’t come back. Hegarty says your best bet is to just say no and contact a reputable company if your need driveway repairs.
