A young Bellevue man has died of injuries he suffered in a fiery crash in southeast Omaha this past weekend.
22-year-old Michael Harnett died Wednesday night at an Omaha hospital.
Harnett was behind the wheel when he lost control of his car, crossed several lanes of traffic, and ran through a fence at the Ready Mix Concrete Company, coming to a stop only after running into a parked cement truck.
Harnett was thrown from the vehicle, according to Omaha police, and suffered a head injury. A passenger in the car, 33-year-old Misty Vetrovsky of Bellevue, died at the scene after the car caught fire. Vetrovsky had to be identified through dental records.
Police investigators suspect speed and alcohol contributed to the fatal wreck.
