The state’s top high school football players are in Kearney for Saturday’s 57th annual Shrine Bowl. Executive Director Dave MacDonald says the main purpose of the game is to raise revenue to support Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and to benefit Shrine Hospital transportation funds. Players from both teams were flown to Chicago this week to visit the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Both the North and the South squads will carry 35 man rosters. Larry Martin of Omaha North is the head coach for the North squad while Doug Goltz of Falls City Sacred Heart will direct the South team.
Kickoff on Saturday is 2:00p.m. at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field on the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus.
