The Big Ten West Division title may be decided by the October 10th game in Memorial Stadium between Nebraska and Wisconsin. Publisher and College football prognosticator Phil Steele calls the Huskers and Badgers the main contenders in the division race.
Both programs will be led by first year coaches. Paul Chryst takes over at Wisconsin after three years at Pittsburgh while Mike Riley enters his first season at Nebraska after spending the last 12 at Oregon State.
Nebraska returns 12 starters from last year’s team that finished 9-4 and Steele says the Husker defense should make strides under new coordinator Mark Banker after finishing eighth in total defense in the Big Ten in 2014 and ninth against the run.
Nebraska opens the season at home September fifth against BYU. Phil Steele’s College Football Preview hits the newsstands July first. Fans may also order the magazine over the phone at (866) 918-7711 or on line at www.philsteele.com
