Secretive deals regarding a free trade deal has the attention of many Americans and those in Congress. President Obama wants fast-track authority to finish the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) but drafts are still in the works. Nebraska 2nd District Congressman Brad Ashford says Congress is aware of what is going on.
Congressman Ashford says, “The TPP agreement would have to voted on by both the Senate and the House after debate and that is in the future.” He says that vote likely won’t come until late summer or early fall.
Those opposed of TPP claim very little of the agreement is about trade. They say it includes provisions that would impact our food safety, prices for medicine, financial regulations and more.
