Today marks the seventh anniversary of the murder of a young Kearney woman which remains unsolved.
Authorities say someone entered the home of 21-year-old Kelcey Fike in the early morning hours of June 17th, 2008, and murdered her. The house was then set on fire.
Fike’s body was discovered as firefighters extinguished a fire believed to have been set as Fike lay in the hallway between two bedrooms of her single-wide modular home. Police have turned up no murder weapon, suspects or witnesses in the case.
Police don’t believe Fike’s death was random nor will they elaborate on a possible motive.
The state crime lab and private labs continue to test evidence collected from the scene, as police and family members hope to soon learn what happened and bring whoever is responsible to justice.
