Olympic gold medalist Brandon Slay will make an appearance at a wrestling camp on the campus of Chadron State beginning this weekend. Slay will conduct technique sessions on Sunday and Monday as well as speak at 7 p.m. Monday in the Chicoine Center. The event is being sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and will be open to the public.
Slay was a two-time NCAA runner-up at the University of Pennsylvania before winning the gold medal in the 167 pound weight class at the Sydney Olympics back in 2000. He is currently the assistant national freestyle coach for USA Wrestling.
Chadron state coach Brett Hunter says 320 wrestlers from six states are registered for the camp.
