This will be a great weekend to grab the fishing pole. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission spokesperson Greg Wagner says they are having a fun family event Saturday morning Branched Oak State Recreation Area west of Lincoln.
Wagner says they “chummed” or baited an area near Lieber’s Point so the success should be good. All the fish caught will be used for demonstrations on how to clean and cook carp. The fish caught will also be part of a free lunch for those attending. Carp-O-Rama is from 8 am until 1 pm. While the event is at no charge a park permit and fishing license is required.
Wagner says fishing conditions in the state now are good. We are heading into the heat of the summer so the best time to cast a line is early or late in the day.
