You have a chance to name a wallaby.
Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced his family will hold a naming contest for a young wallaby at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo.
The First Family will name the young tammar wallaby, one of 11 living at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. Tammar wallabies are native to South Australia.
“While our family may never have a wallaby as a pet at home, we are really excited about having the opportunity to name one,” said Margot Ricketts, daughter of Governor Pete Ricketts and First Lady Susanne Shore, said in a written statement released by the governor’s office.
Submissions can be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by writing to the Governor’s Office at 1445 K Street, Lincoln, NE 68509.
You have a bit of time, but not a lot, to make your suggestion. The deadline is July 31st.
The name selected for the wallaby by the First Family will be announced at a news conference at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo in Lincoln.
