A western Nebraska woman has been convicted of a misdemeanor in connection with the severe beating of her three-year-old daughter by her boyfriend.
25-year-old Cassandra Miller of Scottsbluff pleaded no contest to a charge of misdemeanor child abuse by neglect. An August 14th sentencing date has been scheduled.
Miller’s boyfriend, Cody Olbricht, had been sentenced earlier to 18 to 30 years in prison in the beating that left the girl with serious injuries.
The girl was taken to a Scottsbluff area hospital last fall by her grandmother. Doctors discovered the girl had a lacerated liver, bleeding of the brain, a broken rib, and bruises all over her body.
Scottsbluff police, in a follow-up investigation, found the home to lack adequate food and observed that the clothes and bedding for the girl were stained with urine.
