An elderly central Nebraska man has died of injuries sustained in a near head-on collision when he attempted to turn into the path of another vehicle.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Office reports 84-year-old Leonard Peterson of Ansley collided with a vehicle driven by 54-year-old William Koubek of Merna. According to the sheriff’s office, Peterson was traveling west on Highway 2 when he attempted a turn onto Ryon road; instead he collided with Koubek.
An ambulance rushed Peterson to the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Koubek was not injured in the wreck.
