Omaha police are investigating a shooting death Thursday evening followed immediately by a house fire two blocks away. The department’s shot-spotter sent officers to 21st and Pinkney Streets around 8:30 pm. Moments later the Omaha Fire Department was called to a house fire two blocks away.
Omaha Police Officer Kevin Wiese says when officers arrived they found an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her name has not been released. Officers are looking for two suspects and believe they were last seen in a brown Dodge Caravan. Investigators have not determined if murder and nearby house fire are related.
Omaha police were also called to 43rd and Marcy Streets around 7 am Friday morning after receiving a call regarding a shooting. The man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. That investigation continues.
