Deadly weekend on Nebraska roads

August 10, 2015 By Karla James

A 47 year old Omaha woman was killed in a one vehicle accident on Sunday. Omaha police responded to an accident around 8:30 pm near Sorensen Parkway and 35th Street. Witnesses told police an SUV was speeding and making a number of lane changes when the driver hit a curb, a metal light pole and rolled. Omaha Fire had to remove the woman from the vehicle.

Kamila Wayne was then rushed to an Omaha hospital where she later died.

A 19 year old Schuyler man was killed Sunday afternoon on Highway 30 near North Bend. The Dodge County Sheriff’s office says Miguel Manriquez crossed the center line and hit a pick up driven by 76 year old Laurel Rieck of Omaha.   Investigators say Manriquez died at the scene and Rieck was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Investigators say it appears that Manriquez had been drinking prior to the accident.
