A grand jury will investigate the death of a man shot by a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy earlier this year. 32 year old Taylor Culbertson was shot by a deputy outside the Kwik Shop near 155th and Blondo Streets back on June 23rd. He died at an Omaha hospital on Sunday.
The deputy was inside the store when he was notified by a clerk that Culbertson appeared to be intoxicated. Culbertson had gotten inside his vehicle when the deputy and a back-up told him to exit. Investigators say when Culbertson got out of his vehicle he pointed a gun at a deputy.
The two men struggled and the gun went off. The second deputy at the scene then shot Culbertson. He was rushed to a hospital and remained there until his death on Sunday.
