Nebraska’s bullfrog season officially opens Saturday. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission spokesman Greg Wagner says bullfrogs are regulated so they are not over-harvested. You do need a fishing license and they can only be caught by hand, hook and line or with a hand net. The maximum size limit is 4 1/2 inches from snout to vent and the limit is 8 a day.
Wagner says, “It is a lot of fun. You can catch and release if you want to. Our back waters have all kinds of bullfrogs.”
Wagner says some of the best places to catch frogs on public lands include lakes, ponds, rivers and sand pits. The season runs through October 31st.
