Nebraska football coach Mike Riley says freshman linebacker Dedrick Young will not be redshirting this season and has made a major move in practice. The Peoria, Arizona native is likely to see the field this season at a position that lacks depth.
Riley says Young’s consistency has moved him up the depth chart.
“Relatively quiet but very intense and a very good learner”, said Riley. He’s been very consistent and that is what has elevated him. It is not just that he flashes his ability once in a while but he is becoming very reliable.”
Young saw time with the first defensive unit during Tuesday’s practice along with Josh Banderas and Michael Rose-Ivey.
