With the season opener two weeks away the Nebraska defense is still searching for consistency. Husker defensive coordinator Mark Banker says while he likes the potential of the defense the Blackshirts are giving up too many big plays. He says last weekend’s scrimmage was a perfect example.
“When you looked at the line score and we showed the defense it’s a zero, it’s a zero, it’s zero, it’s a plus four, it’s a minus one and then all of sudden, bang, 47 yards”, said Banker. It can’t happen, whether it’s on first down or any other down and we’ve got to work on that.”
The Huskers return to the practice field on Saturday as they continue preparations for the September fifth opener against BYU.
