NSP reports the largest seizure confiscated 101.7 pounds of marijuana as well as 3.5 pounds of hashish during a stop late Thursday afternoon.
According to NSP, a trooper stopped a car for speeding near the Giltner interchange and found the drugs in three duffle bags in the trunk. The driver, 29-year-old Derick Rivero of New Britain, CT, has been charged with intent to sell and is in jail in Hamilton County.
Later that evening, a trooper stopped another car near the Giltner exchange for failing to signal. A drug dog led to the seizure of nearly 83 pounds of marijuana contained in four duffle bags in the trunk.
The driver, 40-year-old Geoffrey Wright of Midvale, UT, is also in the Hamilton County jail facing the change of intent to sell.
A third stop on Thursday, also at the Giltner interchange, resulted in the seizure of nearly 22 pounds of marijuana. NSP reports troopers also confiscated a loaded shotgun found in the trunk of that car.
28-year-old Trenton Hall of Gansevoort, N.Y. was arrested and charged with intent to sell drugs as well as possession of a firearm during a drug violation. His passengers, 31-year-old Daniel Walker of Ballston Lake, N.Y. and 31-year-old Yohanns Carr of Denver, CO, face identical charges.
