20-year-old Larry Leggett of Omaha is in custody after initially running from police, then surrendering.
The Omaha Police Department reports Leggett ran when officers knocked on the door of his house Friday afternoon. He gave up when he ran into officers at his back door.
Leggett was the second man arrested in the shocking mugging of the woman in St. Cecilia Cathedral. The woman from Iowa, who has not been identified, is shown on surveillance video walking into the vestibule of the cathedral on a Sunday morning. She begins reading the parish newsletter.
Two men walk in. One takes her purse. One hesitates, then slugs the woman who hits the corner of a table before crumbling to the floor.
The woman sustained a black eye and a bruise to her face. Church officials say she was visiting a friend in Omaha when attacked inside the cathedral.
Omaha police arrested 22-year-old Wayman Clark of Omaha earlier in the week. Officers also arrested Clark’s 53-year-old mother, Charlean Clark, and charged her with an accessory for harboring a fugitive.
