Former Huskers Alex Gordon and Joba Chamberlain helped the Omaha Storm Chasers beat Sacramento 4-3 on Sunday.
In his first game on a rehab assignment Gordon thrilled the nearly sold out crowd at Werner Park by slamming a two run homer.
It was his lone hit in four plate appearances.
“It was cool. I wasn’t expecting this kind of turnout and it was more than I expected” said Gordon. “That’s what you get with Nebraska fans. They’re always loyal and always cheer you on.”
Chamberlain came out of the bullpen to earn his first win for the Chasers.
Gordon is expected to see time in the field in tonight’s game after serving as the designated hitter in Sunday’s game.
