Nebraska coach Mike Riley says he will know much more about his first Husker squad after Saturday. While many teams open with nothing more than a tune up the Huskers face their most intriguing opener in several years when they host BYU.
“That part of it is going to be really good for us”, said Riley. “This is going to be a really good football team that always plays with a lot of confidence and is very physical. We’ll find out a lot about our team through this game”
After spending the last 12 years at Oregon State, Riley is excited for his first game as the Husker head coach and the expectations that come with it.
“We in this business understand expectations”, said Riley. “It is fun and exciting to be around so much interest, so much caring and great pride in the football program and all the sports programs.”
Five Huskers will be suspended for the game and Riley says he will wait until later in the week to release their names. BYU expects to be without several players who were involved in a fight against the University of Memphis at the Miami Beach Bowl.
