A 46 year old Bellevue woman is accused of sexually assaulting a 17 year old foster child in her care. Department Investigator Laurie Synowiecki says officers saw a vehicle parked behind a local business around 11:30 Thursday night. Inside the vehicle was 46 year old Kim Carrera and a 17 year old boy. The officer suspected inappropriate sexual contact had occurred and then discovered the boy was a ward of the state and in Carrera’s home as a foster child. The boy was removed from Carrera’s care immediately.
On Friday, August 28th, Bellevue Police served a search warrant at Carrera’s home. Carrera was arrested and taken to the Sarpy County Jail on felony charges of 2nd degree sexual assault of a protected person. Carrera’s vehicle, cell phone and computers were taken by police.
The 17 year old was placed into Carrera’s care in July of 2014. Carrera is a foster parent with Nebraska Families Collaborative, a contract agency with the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services.
