Ground will be broken Friday on a $16.5-million dollar expansion at the Boys Town Residential Treatment Center. Boys Town plans to add 44 beds to the facility on-campus.
The Residential Treatment Center is a high security facility for children with emotional and behavioral problems. When the project is complete children currently receiving care at the Boys Town Treatment Center in downtown Omaha will move to the new facility. Boys Town will then be able to use the vacant space downtown for other programs.
Children from more than 30 states currently receive care at the Boys Town facility. The expansion includes an outdoor recreation area, natural light and classrooms. The expansion is expected to be ready sometime in 2017.
