This is one of the busiest weekends of the year in Nebraska. There are dozens of community celebrations, the State Fair and the Huskers kick off their season. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission spokesperson Greg Wagner many people will also head to state recreation areas and parks for the long Labor Day weekend.
Wagner says, “This is not the busiest of our three summer holiday weekends. We have the State Fair going on. Husker football. People stay close to home. We will still be busy at probably the water areas for sure with this forecast.” He suggests calling ahead to make sure there is space available for your camper or tent.
Wagner says this is also a busy weekend for hunters. A few seasons are already open – dove, grouse, archery deer and teal duck season opens this weekend in the eastern half of the state. He reminds hunters to have all their paperwork in place before heading to the field.
