United States Attorney Deborah Gilg says 39-year-old Phillip Weber has been sentenced to 11 ½ years in prison for the 2014 bank robberies.
A federal grand jury indicted Weber for robbing the Security National Bank in Omaha of approximately $4,500 in cash in May of last year. Weber escaped pursuit afterward.
In June of last year, Weber carjacked a vehicle from a woman at a grocery store in Omaha. The car was spotted in Little Rock, Arkansas four days later as the getaway car in the robbery of the Iberia Bank in Little Rock. Weber took nearly $2,000 in cash.
A federal judge sentenced Weber to 10 years each on both bank robberies as well as on the carjacking. Weber was also ordered to serve an additional 18 months consecutive to the 10 years for a violation of supervised release from a previous federal conviction.
