Nebraska coach Mike Riley says it is time to correct mistakes and not panic as they prepare for Saturday’s game against Southern Mississippi.
Nebraska is 1-2 for the first time since 1981 after a 36-33 overtime loss at Miami.
“These guys care, everybody cares and everybody is hurting”, said Riley. “But, there is a lot of football ahead of us and a lot of stuff still out there for us to go after. There is a lot of good things here that if we can mix it in and fix it this team is going to be alright.”
Riley says if they can eliminate a few mistakes it will make a big difference and points to several dropped passes and penalties against the Hurricanes as areas that need to be cleaned up.
“We had two illegal substitutions, three illegal formations, two false starts and an unsportsmanlike conduct, all under our control”, said Riley. “We’ve got to clean that up.”
Southern Mississippi is 2-1 after a 56-50 win over Texas State.
