Two of the contenders in the Great Plains Conference race collide in Crete on Saturday when 13th ranked Doane hosts 10th rated Northwestern of Iowa.
The Tigers have used solid defense in a 3-0 start and coach Matt Franzen says it will take a more consistent effort by the offense against Northwestern.
“That’s an area where we need to improve especially in this game with Northwestern’s defense so strong as they are”, said Franzen. “We don’t expect to put up big points but we need to play well, take care of the football and execute in order to be in this thing.”
It is a matchup of two of the top defenses in the GPAC. Northwestern is giving up just over nine points per game while Doane is surrendering less than eight points per contest.
