Nebraska could easily be 3-0 and riding high into Saturday’s final non-conference game against Southern Mississippi. Instead, heartbreaking losses to BYU and Miami have the Huskers off to their first 1-2 start since 1981.
With the start of the Big Ten race coming up coach Mike Riley wants the Huskers to build confidence and an identity.
“You just play better, cleaner, start better. All of those things that we failed at that we can look at and build on what we are doing well”, said Riley. “You know you are looking for your niche and we’ve got to start going after that.”
Southern Mississippi is 2-1 and the Golden Eagles expect to be more competitive than two years ago when they lost in Lincoln 56-13.
