It’s been a busy first half for Nebraska place kicker Drew Brown as the Huskers lead Southern Miss 22-0 at halftime. Brown tied an NCAA Record in the first half of today’s game against Southern Miss with five field goals in one half.
Nebraska has been forced to use Brown extensively to end drives as the team did not convert a third down play in the first half, but regularly drove into Southern Miss territory.
Nebraska’s lone touchdown came on a six-yard pass from Tommy Armstrong Jr. to Jordan Westerkamp. Armstrong threw for 213 yards in the first half, with only four incomplete passes in 17 attempts.
The first half also saw a few fan-favorite plays as Husker fullback Andy Janovich had a carry for 25 yards and a reception out of the backfield for 53 yards. Jordan Westerkamp leads the way for the Husker receivers with seven catches for 72 yards.
The Nebraska defense has played well, keeping the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard for the first two quarters. Southern Miss has -14 yards rushing in the first half and only 119 total yards.
Nebraska will receive the kickoff to start the second half.
