Over the years Wisconsin has built a reputation as a power running team but it is defense that has led the way in a 3-2 start to the season. The Badgers have given up only one touchdown in the last four games, are holding opponents to just under 95 yards of rushing per game and 32 percent on third down.
Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst says there is no magic formula to the success.
“It’s scheme, it’s players, it’s them knowing it, it’s leadership and all that”, said Chryst. “I think it is a group that mind set wise knows that you need to continually get better and they do work to do that.”
Through five games the Badger defense is giving up only 9.6 points per contest.
