Huskers try to avoid the noise

Nebraska senior defensive end Jack Gangwish says the message to his teammates this week is to “avoid the noise”. Gangwish is referring to the criticism of the program which has racheted up in the wake of a 14-13 loss at Illinois.

The Huskers are 2-3 for the first time since 1959.

“You know the media, you guys, cause a lot of trouble sometimes for us and it can be difficult to tune that stuff out”, said Gangwish. “On top of that there is social media and you are hearing things from friends, family and classmates. My message to these guys is tune that stuff out. We’ve got goals, we’ve got things we want to achieve and that type of stuff does not benefit us at all.”

Nebraska returns to action at home on Saturday against Wisconsin.
